Johan Tahon wurde 1965 in Menen (Belgien) geboren. Er lebt und arbeitet in Munkzwalm (BE) und Istanbul (TR). Er studierte Bildhauerei an der Königlichen Akademie der Schönen Künste in Gent (BE).
Seit 1994 stellt Johan Tahon regelmäßig seine Werke in Belgien und im Ausland aus. 1996 wurde der einflussreichste Kurator und Museumsdirektor Belgiens, Jan Hoet (u. a. Documenta 9), auf ihn aufmerksam und ermöglichte Tahon die Zusammenarbeit mit Künstlern von Weltruf im Rahmen der international renommierten Ausstellung De Rode Poort im Museum für zeitgenössische Kunst in Gent (u. a. mit Luc Tuymans, Vito Acconci und Sam Taylor-Wood). Von da an erhielt Tahon die volle Unterstützung von Hoet und begann, seine Werke in verschiedenen Galerien und renommierten Museen in ganz Europa auszustellen, entweder allein oder zusammen mit Werken von u. a. Ilya Kabakov, Günther Förg, Tony Cragg und Stephan Balkenhol.

- Johan Tahon took part in major exhibitions like Beaufort (Ostend, BE) and Lustwarande (Tilburg, NL) and showed his sculptures at places like the Ministry of Finance (The Hague, NL), the Gerhard Marcks Haus (Bremen, DE), the Academia Belgica (Rome, IT), the courtyard of the Topkapi Palace (Istanbul, TR), the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington DC, USA) and the Istanbul Biennial (TR).
